Well, it has been a warm, humid summer so far. Solar does help whether you buy or lease it. It does help with the electric bill. Summer is also the Hurricane Season; this means to be stocked up on toilet paper, bottled water, batteries for flashlights and any other survival tool. We live on an island and sometimes big surf can prevent the barges from landing and delivering. It is always better to be prepared because if you don’t need it at that moment you will still always need and use it.
Many people look in the summer for rentals, mostly relocating for a job. There has been a low inventory of long term rentals for a while now, and I encourage anyone out there, if you see something you like (at least for 6 months) don’t hesitate. Anyone with a short term rental who does not want to or can not get the permit, please let me know as I have many good people and families that are looking for long term housing.
If you are looking to buy, I recommend seeing a mortgage broker for the simple reason to look within your price range. It is a good start because many people feel they are not qualified and more often than not, I have seen couples or families qualify for their first condo or starter home. Many people would love to build but with the common 20-30% down for land, it makes it difficult if not impossible for many people. I like to explain buying like stepping stones, some you use for a minute, others you stay awhile to save up for your next move. Great thing to try to do is stay in a property for 2 years or do a 1031 exchange. Our office can explain the pros and cons of both and what might be better for you.
Stay cool out there for at least another 6 weeks or the movie theater usually has great air conditioning!
